Rooster Cup

The Rooster Cup is West Michigan's Premier High School Summer Hockey Tournament. It originated in2018 as a means of honoring Dave Rue, a local legend in our hockey community and giving back to the hockey community. All proceeds from the tournament are donated to the Grand Rapids Youth Foundation's Dave Rue scholarship fund which provides opportunities for our youth to get involved with the game we love through officiating.

Ages

All players should be eligible to play high school hockey in the 2026-27 season.

  • 4 Divisions
  • 3 Game Round Robin
  • Semi-Final
  • Final

Game Format

  • 5 Minute Warm up
  • 3x17 Minute Periods
  • Resurface after second period

Rules

  • MHSAA Rulebook except for the mercy rule. Instead of ending the game at an 8 goal differential we will go to a running clock with a 6 goal differential.
  • Any fighting penalties or DQ's will result in removal from the tournament.
